About Blue Ridge
Our Minister
Dr. Renton Rathbun was called to Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church in September of 2025. Before ministering at Blue Ridge, most of his life work was dedicated to Christian education and church leadership.
He is focused on strengthening and equipping Blue Ridge for the work of ministry in their families, in their community, and beyond.
His education includes a ThM from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary and a PhD from Westminster Theological Seminary. More about Renton here.
Our Beliefs
We are a confessional church that affirms the ancient Christian creeds (e.g. The Apostles’ Creed), as well as Reformational confessions like the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Three Forms of Unity.
Our core beliefs are clearly summarized by the Five Solas of the Reformation.
- Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone): The Bible is the sole written divine revelation and alone can bind the conscience of believers.
- Sola Fide (Faith Alone): Justification is by faith alone. Christ’s righteousness, imputed to us by faith, is the only possible satisfaction of God’s perfect justice.
- Sola Gratia (Grace Alone): Our salvation rests solely on the work of God's grace for us.
- Solus Christus (Christ Alone): Christ is the only mediator through Whose work we are redeemed.
- Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God Alone): To God alone belongs the glory.
Our Worship
Simple. Spiritual. Sacred.
Our corporate worship is intentionally simple, featuring spiritual songs in a sacred environment to help us start each week by the power of the Holy Spirit to unite us as a body, softening hearts to His Word, and walking in the manner in which we have been called.
Since 2002, we have warmly welcomed members of our community to join us in worship, prayer, song, and service.

Vision
BRPC strives for the whole church to attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, maturing to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:13).
Mission
BRPC exists to strengthen Christ’s body by preaching orthodox, Reformed doctrine, administering the sacraments according to Scripture, and making disciples who are steadfastly committed to Christ, all to the glory of God alone.
